Offroad Adventures with Mark & Jon. It's so nice to have a friend with a Jeep in this area! Do you know what Jeep stands for?... Just Empty Every Pocket.
Hiking in the Colorado is exceptional. There is never a shortage of trails to explore or views to soak in. Our friends in the FoCo Newcomers are committed!
All around us is water. Whether it is whitewater rafting on the Poudre River or kayaking on Horsetooth Reservoir, there are plenty of water sports.
Sunrise and Sunset in big sky country is something that just can't be beat. Here are some of the best that I've seen since I've lived here.
Colorado has some really amazing place to visit and sites to see. From giant snow days, neighborhood walks, mountains, rivers, lakes and a vibrant downtown. What a great place to live!
Colorado had an active music scene with concerts at CSU, The Armory and music to drink your beer(s) by at breweries. The Mishawaka is a great place on the Poudre River and then there's Red Rocks Amphitheater.
Heart Attack Hill 2020
Mark and I are taking his Jeep up Heart Attack Hill near Kelly Flats. This is my first attempt at drone photography with the Jeep. Notice when we meet the other Jeep on the trail, how mine decides to follow that Jeep instead of Mark's....
Medicine Bow Peak is a 12,000 ft peak in the Snowy Mountain Range in Wyoming, just outside of Laramie. It is a gorgeous hike but hard. The loop trail that follows along the lakes, up the ridge, along the peaks and back down to the trailhead is 7 miles with 1,720 of elevation gain. The tail is very rocky with lots of bouldering or hiking in boulder fields on a scree path. But the views are worth the effort and I will log this hike as one of my favorites. Enjoy!
The Decalibron is a significant loop trail that takes you across 4 mountain top summits over 14,000 ft in elevation! Unfortunately, we only completed 3 of the summits... Bross, Lincoln and Cameron Peaks. While the entire Decalibron Loop is only 7.1 miles and 3,100 ft of elevation gain, you spend the entire day about 13,000 ft where the air becomes very thin. Some day I will come back to complete the Democrat summit but I'll plan that for another day.
Back in July we set out to do the Decalibron which is a hiking route that takes you over 4 x 14,000+ ft peaks in Colorado in a single day. Unfortunately, we only did 3 of them. This is the story of us going back to do Mt. Democrat at 14,155 ft in elevation. This is our last peak to do to complete the Decalibron circuit. It's a tough hike but a lot of fun.
There are beautiful hikes and then there are the hikes that blow your mind! Mount Ida is clearly the latter. When you combine good friends, (almost) great weather, alpine tundra flowers, wildlife everywhere and sweeping vistas from the Continental Divide in Rocky Mountain NP, you are having a day like no other! Thanks for Ada and Pari for joining in our adventure.
We took off from the Wild Basin Trailhead in Rocky Mountain NP to visit Ouzel Falls and Ouzel Lake. It is a 10.5 mile out and back trail with 1,709 ft. of elevation gain. The views of Copeland Falls, The Cascades, Ouzel Falls and Ouzel Lake are breathtaking! We stopped to have lunch and enjoy the views of Ouzel Lake. One of my favorite hikes... and I've done a lot of hikes! The views are spectacular, the trail is mostly dry and the rivers are raging due to 3 weeks of heat approaching mid 90s which has caused a lot of snow melt in the Rockies.

The FC Newcomers set out on an epic winter hike to Greyrock Mountain. 7.2 miles roundtrip loop, 2,500 ft. of elevation gain, rock scramble at the top and lots of wind... What could be more fun than this!
This is a drone shot from the top of Stone Mountain. Pardon the crash landing at the very end but its hard enough to land a drone on a boulder but add a cross breeze and this is what you get! Enjoy the view
My Father's Day adventure was a whitewater rafting trip on the Poudre River for Adrienne and I. We went with Wanderlust Adventures and Derek and Josh were our guides in the boat. The came highly recommended and now I know why. It was fun trip on a raging river. Life is good!
One of my favorite sports around here. If you go early in the season (June), the water is fast and splashy but not technical. If you go later in the season (August) the water is running much lower but the course is more technical because the rocks are exposed.
We live in an interesting place. Come with us as we explore out neighborhood and see Green Acres (now brown), the Prairie Dog field, Frankenhouse and the Old Mill Pond in winter.
This is what Colorado life is like... once in a while. The last time we had this much snow in one day was back in April of 2003. Surprisingly enough, I was here on a business trip during that snowstorm and was trapped in my hotel room for 3 days before they could dig us out.
At the Ball Arena in Denver, CO. This is a compilation of a few songs from the John Waite portion of the concert. Several are full length songs, a couple are just excerpts from songs because my arms got tired of holding my phone over my head for so long. Other bands at this concert were Styx and Foreigner.

We saw Brit Floyd, a Pink Floyd tribute band, at Red Rocks Amphitheater just outside of Denver. Brit Floyd is a great band that is every bit as good, and in some cases better, than the real deal. Red Rocks is a great venue outside with amazing acoustics and beautiful views.
